What is No-Gi Grappling?

No-gi grappling is submission wrestling without the traditional BJJ uniform. Wearing shorts and a rash guard, you focus on controlling opponents through body mechanics rather than fabric grips. The result is faster-paced, more dynamic ground fighting.

Our programme covers the complete ground game: guard passing, sweeps, submissions (chokes, arm locks, leg locks), positional control, and scrambling. It draws from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and catch wrestling to create well-rounded grapplers.

Whether your goal is MMA competition, self-defence ground skills, or the intellectual chess match of submission grappling, our classes develop technical ability at every level from absolute beginner to experienced grappler.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is no-gi grappling?

No-gi grappling is submission wrestling without the traditional BJJ uniform (gi). You wear shorts and a rash guard. It focuses on controlling opponents, submissions (chokes, joint locks), sweeps, and positional dominance.

Is no-gi the same as BJJ?

No-gi grappling shares many techniques with BJJ but without gi grips. It tends to be faster-paced and more wrestling-oriented. Both are excellent — we teach submission grappling in a no-gi format.

Do I need grappling experience?

Not at all. Classes are structured for complete beginners through advanced grapplers. You'll learn fundamental positions and escapes before progressing to submissions.

What should I wear?

Wear fight shorts (without pockets or zips) and a rash guard or tight-fitting athletic top. No shoes needed — grappling is trained barefoot on mats.

Is grappling safe for beginners?

Yes. Training is progressive and controlled. You'll drill techniques before live rolling, and coaches supervise all sparring. Tap early, tap often — it's how everyone learns.

Will grappling help my MMA?

Absolutely. No-gi grappling is the ground component of MMA. Learning submissions, defence, and positional control is essential for any complete MMA fighter.
